So yeah, I totally just entered my baby into a contest called That Baby- I've become one of those mothers. It's for a radio station here in Vegas (Sunny 106.5) and I submitted this picture... yeah, it's in the bag.

There and Back Again
Well Valentine and I had a wonderful time in D.C. Definitely the highlight was going to Merry's play "Kickball the Musical!" which was AWESOME. I love Merry. We did other fun stuff too: we had a girls night out (where Jordan and I were told all about sexy Noah Brown from Lana), we went to Lucketts (my favorite place ever), we went to Georgetown so I could have a Georgetown Cupcake but it's closed on Mondays- just a heads up to anyone interested, and we went to the Zoo which I was dying to do- I love it. However, apparently the only nice, warm and sunny day that was to be had during Spring Break in the D.C. area was not the best choice of days to go to the Zoo because oddly enough that's when the rest of the D.C. area residents decide to go too. So we went to an immensely crowded zoo- there was a huge line just to get into the Elephant House as well as any sort of refreshment/snack vendor, but it was fun. Plus Valentine enjoyed looking at all of the people more than the animals, so I guess it was a good thing we went on the most crowded day ever. She just sat in her stroller kicking her legs and laughing and squealing at all the people, especially kids, running around. The one bummer while being home was that Valentine for some reason was not liking men. It took her a few days to let my dad hold her and a week for my grandpa. I'm sorry guys, what a stinker. It was so nice to go there though, all of the trees blossoming- I miss the green and flowers while living here in the dumb desert. And I just loved being at home, just relaxing and talking and being with my family that I love so much was wonderful. Oh yeah but as soon as we got back Valentine got sick. I can't think of anything less fun than a sick baby. I thought it was rough when I was sick and had to take care of her, but this was worse- much worse. The first night she was sick she woke up every hour, and every time she woke up I had to get out bed and walk around with her and bounce her to sleep. She had a runny nose (actually has a runny nose) and watery red eyes with yellow gunk in them and a fever- poor thing, I've never seen anything so sad. Every time I looked at her sad messy little face I'd go "Awwwwww." But, she's on the mend, still a booger face though and she freaks out every time I try to wipe her nose- SO FUN.

I love this guy

Well today Valentine and I are taking off for two weeks to D.C. and I'm sooooo excited. But I hate leaving Drew- hate it. I miss him already and we haven't even left yet, and I know Valentine does too- I wish everyone could see the way her little face lights up every day when he comes home from work, she loves her daddy and I love him too. We love and miss you Drew!!!!

She's So Vain
Valentine's favorite thing in the world (besides nursing) is to see herself in the mirror. Nothing gives her greater joy- I guess that she shares my opinion that she's the cutest little stinker in the world. She talks to herself, laughs at herself, smiles to herself and most recently she has been banging her head against herself trying desperately to touch that adorable baby she sees and loves so much. I know it's bad, but most of the times I just sit there and watch her and laugh cause it's soooo funny- I eventually pull her away so she doesn't give herself brain damage (I swear I'm a good mother), but I just had to take a video of it so others can see what I'm talking about. Not only is she a narcissistic baby but also a very determined one. She is trying so hard to crawl, if she sees something she wants she will crawl/scoot/roll her way around till she gets to it (most of the time it's the mirror). I love watching her grow- and I swear she gets prettier by the day, every time I look at her I'm taken aback by how darling she is and how much I love her. Oh yeah, she also loves watching videos of herself- jeez, how conceited.

5 Months
I hate being sick. Hate it. And trying to take care of a baby while sick- yikes. Needless to say this weekend wasn't the most fun. However, the weekend and week before that were really fun- my mom, Page and Kirby were all here and I loved loved loved it. It was so fun, we went up to Utah for a few days and while here went to the Strip and Red Rock Canyon (I'm pretty that was a little more fun for Drew and me than for Mom and Page since they sat in the car with sleeping Valentine while Drew and I hiked on the red rocks... sorry) but just having them here was amazing. Valentine had her own little fan club- every morning when I'd come out of the bedroom with V Mom, Page and Kirby would all be sitting on the couch waiting for her and would talk to her as soon as we came out. Needless to say Valentine just loved this attention- she started craning her neck to try to look at the couch every morning when we'd come out to see who was waiting for her. It was very sad the morning after everybody left and she still looked out to see who was on the couch. Well, anyways, here are some random pictures for y'all's enjoyment. 5 Months, can you believe it?

Food
I just cannot believe that Valentine is old enough to start eating food. I know this sounds ridiculous, but when the doctor told me to start feeding her food at her check up I almost started crying and thought for a minute that I didn't want to. She's just growing up too fast it makes me very sad. Yet it's also so much fun, her personality grows by the day. She still talks all the time and she's started doing this funny thing where she spits while she's talking- she just makes spitting noises between yells and coos. And feeding her food was fun- she got rice cereal all over her face as you can see and kept grabbing the spoon- pretty sure she likes the spoon better than the cereal.
